Several extraordinary individuals, including an architect, who cannot speak or hear since her birth and is running her own architecture firm, and two 100 per cent visually impaired brothers who are independently running own grocery store are among those to be awarded on September 20 at the Tagore Theatre in Sector 18.
Architect Shavi Garg, a mother of twin boys, is being hailed for her indomitable spirit. Shavi, who has her office in industrial area in Chandigarh, converses with her clients through messages or by writing on paper. “I never felt that I have been challenged by these two things. My customers come to me because they like my work,” she shared by writing on a piece of paper.
The two visually impaired brothers, Ashwani and Raj Kumar, are successfully running their own grocery store in Bilaspur, Himachal Pradesh. “We identify the amount of the currency by just rubbing our hand on the note,” they said.
Another story is of Ravi Kumar from Amritsar, who once used to work at a vegetable shop and now runs his own pharmaceutical company in Rupnagar. Another awardee on the list is Kunwar Ravinder, a social worker, who has devoted his life in the welfare of ex-servicemen, martyrs and their families. Whether it is helping in financial needs or doing their other pending administrative works, he has been at the forefront.
Besides, there are two Mohali-based entrepreneurs Kunal Khullar and Mrinal Khullar, both brothers, who started their own venture in software development from a small room 12 years ago and have turned the company into to a major player today.
All will be honoured with ‘Indian Oil Honsle ki Udaan’ Excellence Award. Addressing a press conference today, Sanjeev Rana, founder, Kartavyanishth, NGO, which is organising this event, said, “The award celebrates individuals who have refused to accept defeat, making a meaningful impact despite facing numerous challenges. Their resilience and high morale encourage others to persevere and strive for goodness in their own lives. All were selected.
