Chhattisgarh’s Social Welfare Minister Ramsheela Sahu walked blindfolded to a certain distance at the Jai Stambh Chowk in Raipur along with the blind children on the occasion of International White Cane Day observed in the State on Thursday.
The Minister experienced the trials and tribulations of the blind while crossing the streets.
The children are students of the Government Blind and Hearing Impaired School based at Matpurena.
Sahu said that the White Cane is very useful to the visually impaired and it acts like a friend.
She appealed to the citizens to give place to the blind citizens while walking on the streets.
The Minister gifted water bottles to all the children on the occasion.
Social Welfare Department Additional Director M. L. Pandey , Assistant Director Rajesh Tiwari , Government Visually and Hearing Impaired School Superintendent Rajesh Tiwari and a number of officers and employees were also present.
