The National Association for the Blind (NAB) has extended help to visually-impaired Nilanchal Patra (31) of Tikarapada in Ganjam district by giving a tea, coffee and soup making machine to enable him to eke out a living.

Nilanchal, who lost his sight while he was working at a welding shop in Ganjam 11 years ago, has now started his own small shop here. During its inauguration, Assistant Director of Vocational Rehabilitation Centre Ram Kishore Sharma, social activist Sushant Sahoo, NAB State branch secretary Ajay Kumar Samal and vice-president Dr Sisir Kumar Dash and comedy artist Satya Ranjan Sahoo were present.

They lauded Nilanchal for his determination, efforts and struggle to survive. Nilanchal, who had married a blind woman, Sulochana in 2011, had to face a lot of hardships after he lost his vision. Notably, the NAB has provided the same machine to two blind couples and a blind youth for their settlement.
