CHENNAI: Visually impaired students were given an opportunity to showcase their talent at New Vision, an inter-collegiate fest for the visually challenged, organised by PG students and the Department of English of The New College on March 17.

“I don’t have sight but I certainly have a vision,” said chief guest Ilango, chairman and managing director, Ace Panacea Soft Skills, and a public speaker and voiceover artist. “My life’s ambition is to inspire people,” he told students who questioned him on dealing with visual impairment and overcoming barriers to become a successful professional. Ilango, who has a Guinness record as a visually challenged voiceover artist, gave the students a music performance.

Conceptualised by visually challenged students of English literature, the talent hunt included oratory, essay writing, typewriting, chess and mimicry. Students and achievers from the college with government jobs as teachers and professionals were felicitated.
