From Doubt to Determination

Karan Pawar was born in 2005 in Amravati district, Maharashtra. Blind by birth, he grew up in a lower middle-class family where his parents worried constantly about his future. They feared how their son would manage in a world full of challenges.

With the support of their neighbors and villagers, Karan’s parents enrolled him in a special school for visually impaired children in Amravati. There, he began his education, slowly built confidence, and developed a strong curiosity for learning. By the time he reached 10th standard, Karan had shown himself to be intelligent and determined.

But as board exams approached, he was gripped with anxiety about what lay ahead. The question that worried him most was—what after 10th? He wanted to study further, but the path wasn’t clear.

During this time, he attended a program where he met a counselor from Eyeway supporting the visually impaired. Karan shared his fears, and the counselor encouraged him to continue his studies, assuring him that there were opportunities waiting for him. With this guidance, Karan decided to take the next step.

Accommodation was a challenge, but he applied for a government hostel and was relieved when his name was selected. This gave him the confidence to pursue further education, and he secured admission in St. Xavier’s for 11th standard.

Shifting from a Marathi-medium to an English-medium curriculum was not easy. Karan worried about coping, but with help from Eyeway Counsellor, he was connected to resources, English classes, and ongoing support. His counselor reassured him that guidance would always be available.

Step by step, Karan adjusted to his new environment. His journey shows how determination, community support, and timely guidance can help overcome barriers and open the way to new possibilities.
