Back to Learning, Back to Life

Amir Khan, a 26-year-old from Hapur, Uttar Pradesh, has faced many challenges in life. He grew up in a family of five siblings—two brothers and three sisters. His mother passed away from a heart attack, and his father later lost his life to blood cancer. Despite these tragedies, Amir tried to move forward.

In September 2015, his life took another unexpected turn when he lost his eyesight in an accident. The pulse of his eye was damaged, leaving him completely blind. Until then, Amir had studied in a Madarsa, but after losing his vision, he was forced to discontinue his education.

It was during this difficult phase that Amir came across a radio program about Eyeway. Curious, he reached out, and that one step changed the course of his life. Eyeway counsellors encouraged him not to give up on his education and guided him toward possible opportunities. With their support, Amir successfully enrolled in Class 10 through the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS).

Eyeway also connected him with people who could assist him in filling forms for visually impaired students. He became a member of an audio library, giving him access to study material in an accessible format. With this new support system, Amir has resumed his education and feels motivated and happy once again.

Looking ahead, Eyeway will continue to support Amir in pursuing higher education and preparing for employment opportunities. With determination and the right guidance, Amir is now on his way to building a meaningful life and connecting himself to the mainstream of society.
