Pune: A tactile mathematics laboratory was inaugurated at the NFBM Jagruti School for Blind Girls in Alandi, with support from the MIT Academy of Engineering, Alandi, through CSR assistance under the Arise Plus programme of the Tech Mahindra Foundation. The laboratory aims to help visually impaired students understand mathematical concepts through touch-based experiential learning.
It uses specially designed tactile models that focus on texture, shape, proportion, movement and spatial understanding instead of visual elements. The inauguration was attended by principal commissioner of the Central Income Tax Department, Sangram Gaikwad, along with representatives from the MIT ac academy, Tech Mahindra Foundation, faculty members, school authorities and student coordinators.
