When Education Seemed Out of Reach, Sangita Found a Way Forward
Sangita Kumari is a visually impaired young woman who lives in a hostel in Sant Nagar, Burari, Delhi. She is the only visually impaired person in her family. Her parents supported her education and helped her complete her schooling up to Class 12. However, after she completed Class 12, her family was unable to support her further education.
Determined to continue her studies and build an independent future, Sangita contacted the Eyeway Helpdesk for guidance. During the counselling session, she shared her educational aspirations and expressed her desire to become a teacher.
The Eyeway team counselled Sangita about the educational opportunities available to her and guided her through the admission process for the B.A. Programme offered by the School of Open Learning. When she learned that she could enrol for just ₹130, she was delighted and encouraged to continue her studies. With Eyeway’s guidance and support, Sangita successfully secured admission to the B.A. Programme.
Sangita is now pursuing her graduation with the aim of becoming a teacher. The Eyeway team also guided her on the next steps in her career journey. She was informed that after completing her graduation, she could explore admission to a B.Ed. programme and follow the required pathway towards becoming a teacher.
Sangita’s story demonstrates how timely counselling, accurate information, and educational guidance can help a visually impaired student overcome barriers and pursue her dreams.
Eyeway will continue to guide and support Sangita by providing relevant information and assistance related to her education and career as she works towards achieving her goal of becoming a teacher.
