Introduction

This is an initiative from Mitra Jyothi - Enable India team towards giving quality computer training for visually impaired people who are working or studying, and not able to attend regular computer training. This is a Short Term Orientation Course on Computer Application for Visually Impaired in collaboration with National
Institute of the Visually Handicapped (NIVH), Dehradun. Main goal of this course is to increase the candidate’s knowledge on Computer Basics and making them efficient in using computers independently.

This will increase the employment opportunities, betterment of existing job.
 

Course Details:-

Duration: 6 days
Timings: 10 am-5:30 pm, Monday-Saturday
Date: 12th March 2012 – 17th March 2012.
Seats: *Limited seats available. First come first serve basis.*

Contents:

1. Introduction to Basics of Computers using JAWS Screen Reader.

2. Orientation to various Assistive technologies, hardware and software.

3. MS Word, JAWS help, Excel, Power Point, Internet

4. Practicals.

 

Who are eligible?

1. Visually impaired candidates who have completed 10th Std. or above.
2. Trainers who wish to teach computers for the visually impaired students.
3. Anyone who wish to help the visually impaired with computers.

For outstation candidates, food and dormitory accommodation will be provided.

And travel costs will be reimbursed upon production of tickets (only bus or sleeper class train fare will be reimbursed)

For local candidates, lunch and tea will be provided and upto Rs.200/- will be provided for the week’s travel expenditure.

Mitra Jyothi is a registered Charitable Trust formed in 1990. This trust is working for visually impaired and other disabled people in their Education, Training and Employment. At present our activities are as follows:

1. Talking Book Library to provide educational and general books on audio cassettes and CD to the students with visual impairment

2. Basic and Advanced Computer training to the students with visual impairment.

3. Braille transcription centre to provide Braille books and Braille tools to the needy students with visual impairment

4. Independent living skill training to the rural women with visual impairment.

5. Job placement service to persons with disabilities.

6. Community radio Training in which students given radio jockey training, production, post production & broadcasting training.
