Introduction to Short Term Computer Training

This is an initiative of Mitra Jyothi with Technical collaboration from EnAble India for Basic computer-training course for the Visually Impaired followed by English training. Main goal of this course is to increase the candidate’s knowledge on Computer Basics and making them efficient in using computers independently. This will increase the employment opportunities, betterment of existing job, and for higher studies.

Mitra Jyothi’s new batch for computer training for Visually Impaired will commence on 9th April 2012.

Course duration: 2 months
Timings: 9:30AM to 5:00PM.
Date: 9th April 2012 – 9th June 2012.
Days: Monday to Saturday.

Content of Course:

  1. Keyboard orientation
  2. Basic concepts such as desktop, taskbar, menus.
  3. Editing
  4. Dialog box
  5. My Computer (File/Folder management)
  6. Jaws help
  7. MS Word & its features.
  8. Scanning
  9. Basic Internet.

Criteria for selection:
1. Any visually impaired person, who’s educational qualification should be 10th pass and above.
 2. Who want to use computer skills for their education/ employment, and having good communication English, and basic knowledge of mathematics.

Joining Procedure:
1. Candidates have to attend the evaluation test before the training starts as per the Evaluation dates.

- The registration fee for the course is Rs. 200.
 

Accommodation facility is available.
Accommodation with food for 2 months Rs. 2000

Note: All potential candidates will have to pass the evaluation tests to be eligible for the course.

Material Used:
1.      Computers with
a.      Windows 7 operating system and
b.      Office 2007,
c.       Jaws

2.      Self paced exercises for each concept.

3.      Test for final assessment.

4.      Designed Curriculum with computer concepts and employment aspects.

5.      Tactile Diagrams

What you can expect from the course:-
Our goal is to give quality in what we give.

  - Participant will be able to Type and edit the document independently.
  - Participant will be independent in using the computer for their study purpose (Scanning books).
  - Participant will be independent in managing their folders & files.
  - Participant will be independent in getting help from computer & learn by their own.

Mitra Jyothi is a registered Charitable Trust formed in 1990. This trust is working for visually impaired and other disabled people in their Education, Training and Employment. At present our activities are as follows:

1. Talking Book Library to provide educational and general books on audio cassettes and CD to the students with visual impairment
2. Basic and Advanced Computer training to the students with visual impairment.
3. Braille transcription centre to provide Braille books and Braille tools to the needy students with visual impairment
4. Independent living skill training to the rural women with visual impairment.
5. Job placement service to persons with disabilities.
6. Community radio Training in which students are given radio jockey training, production, post production & broadcasting training.
