Learn Today invites teachers to the 4th Workshop in its Creative Teaching and Planning series, 2012

Teacher preparation to deliver inclusive services to students with disabilities is increasingly important because of changes in law and policy emphasising students’ access to, and achievement in, the general education curriculum. Inclusion of students with disabilities in general education environments will support improvement in terms of educational achievement and non academic outcomes of students with disabilities.

With the above as a thought, the following workshop has been designed:

1. Understanding the path to inclusion -  Comparative analysis of mainstreaming, integration and inclusion
2. Listing developmental skills from age 3-8 in the 6 major areas of development - Using the HELP to guide understanding of developmental skills in the Gross Motor, Fine Motor, Social, Cognitive, Speech/Language Communication and Self Help Skills Domains
3. Listing difficulties that students display in the classroom within these developmental domains.
4. Conceptualizing classroom practices keeping in mind the difficulties children display
5. Reflecting on strategies in the classroom to develop new knowledge and solutions for students needs
6. Empowering the self to empower the students with disability.

The workshop is designed as a reflective process to create inclusive strategies and environments within the classroom

Workshop Leader: Ms. Abha Ranjan

Ms. Ranjan is an occupational therapist for over 28 years of experience in Pediatrics. She has co-founded Special Section in Vasant Valley School and did a lot of work in the field of therapy.Ms. Abha Ranjan has worked in different countries (India, Israel, UK & USA) and in many different settings. Her passion is creating equal spaces for persons with disabilities and challenging the barriers in the minds of people towards disability.

She was recognized for her work in the field of Therapy by State of Punjab and received an award for the same from Red Cross Society.

Workshop Fee & Registration:

The fee for the workshop is Rs 2,000/- per participant. The fee includes workshop materials/ facilities and refreshments.
