Toppers of 12th and 10th board examinations have one more reason to smile. Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Shivraj Singh Chauhan has announced reward money of Rs 2 lakh each to Shristi Tiwari and Poonam Ghore.
Visually impaired Shristi Tiwari scored 481 out of 500 to emerge as the topper in Arts stream of Madhya Pradesh 12the board examination.Shristi lives with her grand-parents in Damoh.
Poonam Ghore lives in the huts built along the railway line in Betul. Her father's terminal illness keeps him confined to their hut. Her mother Promila works as 'Aangan Bari Worker'. Poonam never had enough money to buy good books. She could not afford the luxury of private tuitions.
Since her hut is close to the railway track, more than 140 trains pass by every day, creating a lot of disturbance. Still she managed to concentrate in her studies and topped 10th board examinations. She has scored 587 marks out of 600.
