Although the Class 10 result of the Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) was not according to the expectations, but the students of Institute for Blind, Sector 26 has given a surprising result. 
The result was declared on Tuesday and the visually impaired students have outshined the 

normal students as all the 12 students who appeared for the exam have secured a first division.
Rohit Kumar, who is son of a daily wager, has topped the school by scoring 79.07% marks. While Anuj Sharma has scored 77.69% marks and stood second and Jasneet Kaur stood third by getting 75.69% marks.
Headmaster of the Institute, JS Jayara said, “Our children have once again proved that they are creating a difference in the society. In my opinion children need a chance and not charity; we need equal opportunity because our students are equal to any other student. The students are given writers and the visually impaired students dictate the writers and hence the answers are written.”

The institute would be applying for CBSE affiliation for providing more exposure to students as there were numerous subjects they could choose from, he added.

Institute chairman Rajinder Nath said, “There are three girls and nine boys, who have secured first division. Students are very hard working. They are the future of the country and I pray a smooth life for them ahead.”

All students have a set of subjects that they need to pass, including, vocal and instrumental music, Hindi, English, Punjabi and social sciences. They all have to learn music and also appear for theory paper that has been given to them in place of mathematics and science.
