KOCHI: As part of World Sight Day 2014, an All Kerala Chess Tournament for the blind is being organised by the Little Flower Hospital, Anagamaly, in association with the Kerala Chess Association for the Blind at Little Flower Ophthalmic Institute Auditorium in Angamaly on October 8 and 9.
The Chess tournament is being held as part of implementing a comprehensive rehabilitation project for the visually challenged, said LF Hospital Director Fr Paul V Maadan. “The participants for the competition will be provided with free food, accommodation and conveyance facilities,” he added.
Kerala Chess Association for the Blind state secretary Agesh Kumar said that the blind chess players with FIDE rating, who had defeated International players who were not visually challenged, will participate in the tournament. The tournament is being held without altering the basic laws of chess.
