Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan blessed 51 newly wed disabled couples at a function for mass marriage of disabled persons at Hoshangabad on Wednesday. He announced that assistance under CM’s disabled persons’ marriage scheme will be increased from `25,000 to `50,000. He said that the increased amount will also be given to couples who tied nuptial knots at today’s function.
The Chief Minister lauded holding of disabled persons’ mass marriage function by district administration. He said that such events will also be held in all districts of the State. The Chief Minister said that all possible assistance for employment will be extended to the couples married at today’s function. He said that apart from self-employment, the disabled couples will also be provided 6 percent reservation in Government jobs. Chouhan said that Director of Narmada Apna Hospital Dr Rajesh Sharma has announced to give jobs to 5 disabled persons married at today’s function. Directors of other establishments should also take initiative to provide jobs to these disabled persons.
PWD Minister Sartaj Singh said that this unique function might be first of its kind in the country. Madhya Pradesh is proud that Government under Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan is always ready to extend assistance to the poor and girls.
Presiding over the function Vidhan Sabha Speaker Sitasaran Sharma said that mass marriage function of disabled persons under Mukhyamantri Kanyadan Yojana has been held on a grand scale on Wednesday. He said that State Government’s welfare schemes have been replicated by a number of other states of the country. MP Udai Pratap Singh expressed gratitude towards the Chief Minister for this unique initiative for protection of girls. He said that Kanyadan Yojana is not only popular in the state, but also in the whole country. Commissioner VK Batham said that division-level mass marriage function of disabled persons is first in the State and country where marriages of 51 disabled couples have been solemnized. Nikahs are also being held in the function. One inter-caste marriage was also solemnized. Social workers and Atal Bal Palaks have also extended cooperation in holding the function.
The Chief Minister gave away cheque of `2 lakh as incentive to the only inter-caste couple who got married at the function. He wished successful married life to the couple.
At the function, Pandit Somesh Parsai performed marriages of 50 girls with Vedic rituals. Chouhan performed ritual of Kanyadan. Under the scheme, both brides and bridegrooms were separately given `50,000 each. Under Mukhyamantri Kanyadan Yojana, `10,000 fixed deposit receipts in the names of brides and bridegrooms, `2 lakh to inter-caste couple, disability certificates and marriage registration certificates were given away.
A Muslim disabled couple also got married under Mukhyamantri Nikah Yojana. Shahr Qazi Ashfaq Ali solemnized marriage of Nisar Khan and Hina Khan with Muslim rituals.
Chief Minister Chouhan released souvenir ‘Sanjog’. He also released magazine ‘Yuva Uddyami’. MLA Vijaypal Singh, Hoshangabad Nagar Palika President Akhilesh Khandelwal, former MLA Madhukar Harne, former Chairman of Gaupalan Board Shiv Chaube, Itarsi Nagar Palika Chairman Sudha Agrawal and other local public representatives were present on the occasion.
