A Braille book on disaster management to educate visually challenged students on protecting themselves during natural calamity was released here on Monday.
Collector M. Karunakaran released the book during the weekly grievance day meeting and it was received by J.J. Christdoss, Bishop of Tirunelveli CSI Diocese, in the presence of industrialist Gunasingh Chelladurai.
“Since the State Government is keen on disseminating the message of effective disaster management, we wanted to take it among the visually challenged persons also. Hence, we have prepared this book and planned to take it to all schools and colleges so that the visually impaired younger generation will also understand disaster management,” said T. Manohar, District Disability Rehabilitation Officer.
District Revenue Officer M.G. Kulandaivel and Project Director, District Rural Development Agency H. Vijayakumar were present in the inauguration.
