VISUALLY IMPAIRED GIRLS SEEK BLESSINGS OF CM

The visually impaired girls who have been selected for a singing competition to be organised by Doordarshan  titled 'Meri Aawaz Suno' on Monday called on Chief Minister Raman Singh at his residence here.

Roop Varsha Kerketta from Jashpur district and Sarita Dewangan of Raipur district of Chhattisgarh have been selected for the programme, officials stated.

The Chief Minister extended his best wishes and blessed the talented girls for their bright future.

Singh said that entire nation will watch and admire the talent of these daughters of Chhattisgarh. Doordarshan telecasts this programme to provide a platform for talents of disabled children.

Kiran Kaushal, Director, Social Welfare Department, was also present on the occasion.

Kaushal told the Chief Minister that auditions of the programme was conducted in New Delhi on November 1 this year wherein 140 children had participated, out of which total 22 children have been selected, including Roop and Sarita from Chhattisgarh.

Live telecast of the final competition to be held at Siri Fort Auditorium in New Delhi will be done on Doordarshan on November 22 from 7 pm.

Both the girls told the Chief Minister that they will be soon be leaving for New Delhi to participate in the programme.

The girls, who have been selected for the programme are students of a Raipur-based Government School for Visual and Hearing Impaired.

Roop Varsha is student of 9th standard and Sarita Dewangan is student of 11th standard.
