Social Welfare Minister Louis Marandi said that she will take action within 24 hours, if any official or staff of her department was found involved in any kind of irregularity.
Marandi, while counting on the achievements of the State Government during last one year, also added that several measures have been taken by the social welfare department to check the increasing incidents of witch-hunting in the State.
Replying to a question that heavy percentage of scholarships given to the students for taking up various courses are taken away by the officials, the Minister assured that she will take action within 24 hours, if any official or staff of her department was found involved in any kind of irregularity.
“I will look into the matter and I request you people also that if you come across such an incident, please let me know..... I will see to it that action is taken within 24 hours against the persons involved in the anomaly,” said Marandi.
She however said that in order to do away with any such possibility, the system has already been changed where the students are now being given scholarships online and the amount is directly deposited to beneficiary’s bank accounts.
Marandi also declared that there will be special provisions for the disabled, blind, deaf and dumb students in the budget of the next financial year 2015-16. Vacancy of teachers in school for disabled will also be filled up very soon, she said.
“We will make special arrangements in the budget during the coming financial year, making all facilities available to the disabled,” said the Minister. The Government also intends to develop a separate campus for the disabled where only such children will be kept and given formal education, added the Minister.
“In order to develop a sense of confidence among students, they will be taught by disabled teachers only,” she said.
Counting on the measure taken by the State G overnment to check incidents of increasing witch-hunting in the State, Marandi said that intensive awareness programme has been launched after identifying the most vulnerable areas in the State.
“We have decided to take at least one girl from the areas where maximum cases of witch-hunting have taken place in the last 2-3 years and train them as GNM or ANM nurses so that dependency on god-man could be minimised in the area. “They will not only treat some minor diseases but will also create a sense of awareness against the social evil,” said Marandi.
She further added that Rs30,000 of financial help was also being made available to the beneficiaries under Mukhyamantri Kanyadan Yojana. As many as 13,000 beneficiaries so far have been benefitted this year under the scheme.
In order to update Anganbadi centres, a Mobile App was also being started as a pilot project under which CDPO and women observers will be given tabs for successful implementation of the project.
According to Marandi, appointment of teachers in Eklavya Vidyalaya and Ashram Schools will also be done very soon while the renovation work of residential schools was on. Other posts like cooks and guards will also be filled up in the residential schools, she said.
