The teachers and parents have a very important place in life of a child and the children too should respect their parents and teachers, said the Governor of Uttarakhand, KK Paul while addressing a painting exhibition organised on the occasion of Children’s day at Rajbhavan on Monday.
Greeting the children the occasion, the Governor offered his wishes to them and termed them as the future of the country. He said that children should focus on whatever they do, whether it is studying or playing. The Governor congratulated the winners and said that participating in a competition was just like winning it.
In the contest the 78 children of all age groups participated. The highlight of the event was participation of differently abled children from 11 districts of the state. The children who attained first, second and third positions in various categories of the contest were awarded by the Governor.
In the 5 to 10 years age group of differently abled (visually impaired) children, the first prize was bagged by Mahima Pratham, while the second and third spots were grabbed by Sunita and Sareena respectively.
In the hearing and speech impaired category, Deepti stood first, Muskan was adjusted second and Shivani secured third position. In the 11 years to 18 years age category of visually impaired students, Raushni stood first, while Anjana and Kaushalya grabbed second and third positions respectively.
In the normal category of 5 years to 8 years, Vanshika, Geeta Korang and Anita Baseda bagged top three positions. In the age category of 9 years to 12 years Pragati Thapliyal stood first, Harish Kumar got second position and Ramneet Kaur stood third while in the 13 years to 16 years group, Rashmi Sharma, Anushka Rawat and Gagadeep Kaur Sandhu stood first, second and third respectively. All the winners were given cash prizes. The officials of Rajya Bal Kalyan parishad and teachers from various districts were present on the occasion.
Meanwhile in a programme organised at his residence the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand Harish Rawat offered floral tributes to the first Prime Minister of the country Jawahar Lal Nehru. He said that Jawaharlal Nehru was the first world leader who drew the attention of the world towards the children. He said that the Nehruji used to understand the natural behavior and language of the children hence he is referred as Chacha Nehru.
