Ankit Kapoor, member of the Empowerment Association for the Blind, said the association had been struggling for the rights of visually impaired persons for a long time.

He said some of the important demands raised during the recent meeting of association members with the Principal Secretary, Education, in Mohali were that the visually impaired should be exempt of any TET test for the fulfillment of master cadre or for the posts of lecturers. The backlog of the blind quote of master cadre and school lecturers should be fulfilled.

They demanded that the backlog of due promotion of the visually impaired employees in the Education Department should be done on priority. Amongst other demands, they said a toll free number to link with the Education Secretary must be released so that they could reach out to the official in case they face any problems.
