Ranjan Gupta (name changed) is 23 years old. He is from Chikali, Buldana in Maharashtra. He belongs to a six-member family of his mother, father and four siblings. His father is a farmer and his mother is unemployed, thus a low-income family. He was born with his eyes shut and his parents found out there were no eyeballs in his eye socket, leaving him blind. Though the child’s eye condition left the parents shocked, they never lost hope and always took care of him.
He started his education by taking admission in Apang Kalyan Punarvasan, a blind school in Buldana till 7th standard. From 8th till 10th standard he studied and stayed in a mainstream school in Jalna. For 11th standard, he took admission in Amravati and stayed in a government hostel. Throughout his school years, he stayed away from home, becoming quite independent in finding his way through life.
Being a hardworking individual he was always inclined towards doing more than his school work. He studied music and even appeared for exams to acquire a proper certification in the subject. He is currently pursuing a computer course from Technical Training Institute, Pune. He intends to start his 12th standard from the upcoming academic year.
He heard about Eyeway on the radio and since then he has been in contact with the Helpdesk for the past ten months. He contacts Eyeway frequently as and when he is faced with different issues. In the past, he had contacted Eyeway seeking study material for Staff Selection Commission examination (SSC), on making the Unique Identification card etc. In all these issues the counsellor duly assisted Gajanan by finding out the details on sources like Yashovani an NGO that provides CDs of study materials or the Aadhar card related assistance.
This time he contacted looking for seeking contact details of music institutes in Pune and Mumbai to pursue his passion. Our counsellor provided him with a list of music institutes in Pune and Mumbai through e-mail. After few days he returned a call to the counsellor informing that he had taken admission in Modern Musical Institute in Pune. This is a 3-month course to learn Piano. He is now pursuing his piano and computer training simultaneously.
