LAUNCH OF SAVINGS BANK ACCOUNT SCHEME FOR PHYSICALLY CHALLENGED PERSONS – “OBC JEEVAN SARATHI YOJANA”
Post nationalization of banks, the motto of the Bank’s services has been social banking besides contributing to country’s economy. Various Deposit Schemes of the Bank are presently available to the customers. One sector of the society, the physically challenged people, are still an underprivileged lot who do not have an easy access to avail the benefits of schemes/concessions etc. Apart from different concessions/reservations granted to physically handicapped by the Govt. of India, there is still a lot to be done for their betterment / upliftment.
As a token of generous cause, the Bank on its 65th Foundation Day has launched a Savings Bank Account Scheme for physically challenged - “OBC JEEVAN SARATHI YOJANA”.
The salient features of the Scheme are as under:
Purpose: To empower and encourage physically challenged people to open accounts and avail concessional banking services.
Eligiblity- Physically challenged Persons like those suffering from, locomotor disability, Blindness (including low vision), hearing Impairment.
Competent Authority Certifying Disability- CMO of any Govt. hospital
Features/Benefits of the Scheme:
• Savings Bank account with Zero balance.
• No minimum balance charges
• Collection of Instruments At Par
• Issuance of DDs/POs At Par (excepting against Cash)
• No Standing Instruction Charges
• Free Internet Banking
• Free “Proton” ATM Card
• Free ABB Cash transactions upto Rs 50000/-
• No Stop payment charges
• Free Accidental Insurance of Rs One Lac (for first year)
• Nomination Facility available
A special Scheme Code No. SB-214 is available for CBS branches. Branches are advised to open Savings Bank Accounts of physically challenged persons under this Scheme only. No minimum balance charges will be levied by the system on accounts maintained in this Scheme. However, At Par collection of instruments/issuance of DD/Pos, waiver of Standing Instruction charges, Stop Payment charges, etc are to be handled/waived manually by the Branch.
