At least 15,831 voters’ slips are being prepared in the Braille script for visually impaired voters in Jharkhand. Besides, Dummy Ballet Sheet and Voters Guide are also being printed in Braille for visually impaired voters in all the districts, Additional Chief Electoral Officer Manish Ranjan said on Saturday.

“These dummy ballet sheets will be made available in every polling station,” he said.

The visually impaired voters coming to the polling station will be informed about the process of voting through this dummy ballet sheet, so they can use their vote well.

The Voters Guide will be made available to all visually impaired voters, so they can understand the process of election.  Moreover, out of the 29,464 polling booths in Jharkhand, 28,219 will have ramp facilities for differently-abled voters, Additional Chief Electoral Officer Vinay Choubey said on Saturday.

At least two master trainers in each district will train poll booth workers in a bid to sensitize them for ethical treatment of differently-abled voters during the polling days in the state.

“Along with all this, the differently-abled voters will also have access to wheelchairs and other such facilities at the polling booths,” said Choubey.

Electronically transmitted Postal Ballot System (ETPBS), developed by Election Commission of India with the help of Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC), for the use of the Service Voters will also be used this time during the elections in Jharkhand.

According to the ECI’s official website, it is a fully secured system, having two layers of security. Secrecy is maintained through the use of OTP and PIN and no duplication of casted Electronically Transmitted Postal Ballot (ETPB) is possible due to the unique QR Code.

This system enables the entitled service voters to cast their vote using an electronically received postal ballot from anywhere outside their constituency.
