Saksham has been able to finalise the purchase of Samsung N150 Netbook for a special scheme for university students with blindness or low vision.
The Netbook is being purchased at the cost of Rs.16500.
This Netbook has Atom 450 processor, 10 inch screen, 8-and-a-half hour battery back-up, USB, Bluetooth Wi-Fi, LAN port, VGA port, 1 GB RAM, and 160 GB of HDD. It also has a webcam. The Netbook claims to be 3G and GPS enabled (not a SIM card slot but will be able to handle 3G connectivity). It does have card reader also. After providing 5000 rupees subsidy, the Netbook will be available to the students at the cost of Rs.11500.
We will load the computers with various utilities like the NVDA and SAFA screen reading software, Web IE configured for Hindu newspaper links and suitable configurations for persons with vision impairments.
The computers will be delivered in New Delhi, thus there would be shipping cost in addition to the cost of the machine.

Member organisations may please fill up the forms of their beneficiaries and collect the payment of Rs.11500 from them. This payment will need to be sent to Saksham Trust.
The offer is going to be first-come first-served.
