Kumar Deep, a 21-year-old from Pataudi in Gurugram, grew up in a small, close-knit family. His life changed in 2015 when his father, Vijay Kumar, passed away. From then on, his mother became the backbone of the household, determined to keep the family afloat and ensure Kumar’s education continued.
Kumar studied like any other child until 2020, when his vision began to blur. What started as difficulty in reading soon progressed to severe low vision. Books became hard to navigate, classrooms overwhelming, and keeping up with lessons nearly impossible. With no other option, he stepped away from school — a decision that left him unsure of his future.
During this challenging period, a friend told him about Eyeway. With a mix of hesitation and hope, Kumar reached out to the helpline. The counselor assured him that his education didn’t have to end and guided him toward enrolling in Class 10 through the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS), where he could study at his own pace.
