During a call with one of the Eyeway counsellors, Jyoti openly shared the emotional distress and hopelessness she had been experiencing for years. Through continuous motivation and counselling support, she slowly began understanding that blindness did not mean the end of independence or opportunity. She was guided on how visually impaired persons can navigate challenges, rebuild confidence, and lead fulfilling lives.
Recognising her interest and previous experience with computers, Eyeway encouraged Jyoti to restart skill development training. She was connected with VI Foundation, where she completed a three-month basic computer course. During the training, she learned to use screen reader technology and gradually regained confidence in operating computers independently.
Today, Jyoti can navigate and use computers fluently with the help of screen readers, restoring the efficiency and confidence she once had before losing her sight.
In addition to computer training, she also received mobility training from Jayati Bhartam. With the help of a white cane and orientation techniques, Jyoti can now travel independently from one place to another, something that once seemed impossible after her surgery.
Slowly, Jyoti has begun rebuilding not just her skills, but also her self-belief and independence. She now looks toward the future with renewed confidence and hope.
Today, with continued support from Eyeway, efforts are also being made to help her access suitable employment opportunities so that she can become financially independent and continue creating a better future for herself and her family.
