From Uncertainty to Achievement

Manisha was born with visual impairment. Being the only visually impaired member, her path was often shaped by challenges—many of them created not by her disability, but by a lack of information and accessible systems. Yet, from an early age, she carried a strong determination to continue her education and build an independent life.

She completed her Class 10 education in Jalandhar and later enrolled for Class 12 through the Haryana Board. It was during her board examinations that she faced a critical setback. Unaware of the requirement to submit prior documentation for using a scribe, Manisha found her exams at risk. At this crucial moment, timely guidance made all the difference. With the support of a professor, she and her mother approached the education board, completed the formal process, and secured permission to use a writer. This intervention helped her complete her Class 12 successfully.

Encouraged by this experience, Manisha continued her academic journey with renewed confidence. She completed her graduation and later her post-graduation, supported by teachers who believed in her abilities and ensured that she received the accommodations she needed.

Recognising the importance of digital skills for independence and employment, Manisha later reached out to Eyeway for guidance on computer training. She was advised to join an online computer course conducted by the Rotary Club. Through consistent effort, she completed training from basic to advanced levels and became confident in using computers for both professional and personal tasks.

Today, Manisha works at IDBI Bank, marking a significant milestone in her journey. With continued guidance from Eyeway, she is now preparing for internal examinations, aiming to grow further in her career and take on greater responsibilities.

Manisha’s story highlights the power of timely information, supportive guidance, and personal determination. It shows that when access replaces barriers, individuals can move beyond uncertainty and build lives defined by confidence, skill, and purpose.
