Subject: Central Sector Plan of Umbrella Scholarship Scheme "Scholarships for Students with Disabilities" The undersigned is directed to say that the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities has merged the following six scholarship schemes into an umbrella scholarship scheme titled "Scholarships for Students with Disabilities" w.e.f. 151 April, 2018: 1. Pre-matric Scholarship for Students with Disabilities 2. Post-matric Scholarship for Students with Disabilities 3. Top Class Education for Students with Disabilities 4. National Overseas Scholarship for Students with Disabilities 5. National Fellowship for Persons with Disabilities 6. Free Coaching for Students with Disabilities.

The detailed scheme guidelines of umbrella scholarship scheme "Scholarships for Students with Disabilities" containing the conditions of eligibility, quantum of financial assistance and other terms and conditions are enclosed. The scheme is also uploaded on the web-site of this Department at www.disabilityaffairs.gov.in 4, All stakeholders are requested to circulate these scheme guidelines to the beneficiaries so that maximum number of students with disabilities can take benefit of these scholarships.
CONDITIONS OF ELIGIBILITY: The general conditions of eligibility of all the components of the scheme are given below: (i) The scholarships are open to nationals of India only. (ii) All the six scholarships are applicable to students with disabilities with more than 40% disability and having a valid certificate of disability as prescribed under rules issued by the competent authority. Disability is as defined in "Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016. (iii) Not more than two children with disabilities of the same parents will be entitled to receive benefits of the scheme. Provided in case the second child is a _twin, the 'scholarship under this scheme will be admissible to both the twins. (iv) Scholarship for studying in any class will be available for only one year. If a student has to repeat a class, she / he would not get scholarship for that class for a second (or subsequent) year.
(v) A scholarship holder under this scheme will not hold any other scholarship/ stipend. If awarded any other scholarship/ stipend, the student can exercise his/her option for either of the two scholarships/stipends, whichever is more beneficial to him/her and should inform the awarding authority through the Head of the Institution about the option made. No scholarship will be paid to the students under this scheme from the date he/she accepts another scholarship/stipend. The student can however, accept free lodging or a grant or ad-hoc monetary help from the State Government or any other source for the purchase of books, equipment or for meeting the expenses on board and lodging in addition to the scholarship amount paid under this scheme.
(vi) Scholarship holders who are receiving coaching in any of the preexamination trafriirig centres with financial assistance from theCeritral Government/ State Government will not be eligible for stipend under the coaching schemes for the duration of the coaching programme.
NO. OF SCHOLARSHIPS: Twenty (20) awards per year are available under the Scheme. Bachelor level courses in any discipline are not covered under the National Overseas Scholarship.
AGE Below 35 (Thirty -Five] years, as on first day of the month of the advertisement of the scheme.
