Touch and smell park for visually impaired

The district administration is all set to construct a ‘Touch and Smell Park’ for the visually impaired persons and children to know by touching the monuments and other structures.

This facility will enable them to feel about the Seven Wonders of the World, Indian monuments, national geography, transport system, Telangana monuments and symbols of the State under one roof.

Member of Parliament K. Kavitha on Tuesday laid the foundation for the project that will cost Rs. 58 lakh and constructed at the Tilak Garden.

The first ‘Touch and Smell Park for the visually impaired’ was established in Norway. The Nizamabad Touch and Smell Park will be the second of its kind in the world.

A special design has been selected for the project. A structure with four feet fibre-made 38 historical monuments on all the concepts will be erected in the park.

The visually impaired children can touch and feel these monuments free-of-cost while general children will be charged nominal entry fee.

The following are the monuments and other structures to be erected in the Touch and Smell Park:

Telangana talli statue, Seven Wonders of the World, Taj Mahal, Great Wall of China, Eiffel Tower, Colosseum, Leaning Tower of Pisa, Pyramids, Statue of Christ, India Gate, Parliament, Jantar Mantar, Red Fort, Kutub Minar and Telangana monuments such as Charminar, Assembly, Clock Tower, Symbols of Telangana Tangedu Puvvu, Krishna Jinka, Palapitta, Jammi Chettu and so on.

District Collector Yogitha Rana has taken a special interest in the selection of the monuments and their designs. Mayor Akula Sujatha and others were present on the occasion.

 

This park will be the second of its kind in the world. The first one was established in Norway
