Trust for Visually Impaired Opens

HYDERABAD: A trust to help the visually challenged people achieve their goals in life was inaugurated here on Sunday. 

Named as Braille Blind Charity Visually Challenged People’s Foundation Trust (BBCVCF), it was launched by Dr Srinivasa Phani Ponnaluri, whose life story can be a source of inspiration for physically challenged people. Despite being 70 to 75 percent blind, he earned his doctorate in Telugu and also floated a construction company called GK Constructions.

“We believe that restoring a person’s sight and preventing blindness is one of the most effective ways to alleviate suffering, transform the lives of individuals and families and alleviate poverty. We believe that everyone has the right to sight,” Srinivasa Phani Ponnaluri said.

Speaking on the occasion, S Venugopala Chary, special representatives of Telangana government in New Delhi,  said the Telangana government would support and provide all the necessary training and academic support for the initiative.

The trust has developed a five wings to help the visually challenged -- Awareness, Encouragement, Education, Employment and Alliance. The BBCVCF’s website was also launched on the occasion and one can access the information on--http://bbcvcfindia.org/

BBCVCF is also contemplating to start a FM radio channel dedicated for the visually challenged people and plans to send proposals to the Central governmnet for the same.
