For the first time in the city, differently abled will get a chance to walk the ramp during a fashion show to be organised by the UT Department of Social Welfare, Women and Child Development. They will walk the ramp on January 23 in the event called Pride Fashion Show.
Interestingly, the department will first screen the participants for which applications have been invited till January 10. Anyone between the age of 7 and 50 can take part in it.
The screening of the applicants will be held at the senior citizens’ home in Sector 43 on January 13.
The department has formed five categories-orthopaedically impaired, visual impaired, hearing impaired, mentally retarded/cerebral palsy and others- for the show.
Three age slabs has been decided for the show, which are 7 to 17 years, 18 to 30 years and 31 to 50 years.
Nishu Singal, Director (HCS), Department of Social Welfare, Women and Child Development, said the department was not going to charge anything from the applications. The event will be open for all and anybody from any part of the country can apply for it. She said the purpose of organising such an event was to give a platform to differently-abled to showcase their talent.
