The athletes, who are taking part in the ongoing National Games for Visually Impaired, are source of inspiration. One should learn from them as they present exemplary discipline on ground.

This was stated by the MLA, Simarjit Singh Bains, who was the chief guest on the second day of these games, being held at Guru Nanak Stadium here. He appreciated special athletes for their passion and commitment while competing in various track and field events.

Bains lauded organisers for holding the games in which over 300 visually impaired athletes from all over the country are taking part.

He said the state unit of the National Federation for Blinds (NFB), had been organising the games with the help of certain NGOs and without any assistance from the state government.

Meanwhile, participants from Delhi proved their mettle by winning over dozen medals on the penultimate day of the games.

• n 200 m race (B-II): 1st Raveena Sharma of Uttrakhand, 2nd Poonam of Maharashtra and 3rd Varinda of Chandigarh.

   

• n 200 m race (B-III): 1st Harshita of Rajasthan. 2nd Rekha of Chandigarh and 3rd Sandeep Kaur of Punjab.
