Good news for the visually impaired children and teachers at Government Institute for the Blind, Braille Bhawan, Jamalpur, as it is set to be upgraded to an institute.With this development, the requirements of the visually impaired students studying at the school would be taken care of with utmost sensitivity.If it converts to an institute, it would have technology with touch screens and sensors that can ease learning and living of the students at the institute.Deputy Commissioner Ravi Bhagat said the Braille Bhawan would be upgraded with more rooms which would be created especially according to the needs of the visually impaired children.“Rooms with facilities such as touch-sensitive screens and sensors in additional to music room, library will be built at the institute,” he said.He said Oswal Foundation would carry out the project under their CSR activity. Headmistress Paramjit Kaur said: “Such a development was long awaited, but thankfully the district administration is going to pay attention towards it.”She said she went to meet the DC and apprised him of the lack of infrastructure at the school and when he came to attend the annual function at the school he invited members of the Oswal Foundation also.“There is a need for a number of facilities such as a science lab, resource room, music room and upgrade to Class XII among other things,” she said.
