25-year old Azra Qureshi, daughter of Mohammad Shabir resident of Ujhan, at present DC colony in Rajouri town, is visually impaired with very poor eye sight which has been certified by Chief Medical Officer Jammu.
Azra did post graduation in sociology from Jammu University and Bachelor degree from Kashmir University by fighting all odds. Due to her problem, she used to take help of a scribe during exams
After completing her studies Azra, despite having visual impairment, studied hard day and night and qualified National Eligibility Test in Sociology in 2014. She again put her best and now has again qualified National Eligibility Test in 2015, the result of which was declared few days ago.
Asif Mustafa, younger brother of Azra, told Greater Kashmir that his sister is not less than an inspiration for him. “Instead of treating her disability as a problem she took it as a challenge and excelled beyond expectations” he said.
Asif added that Azra strived very hard to achieve this success as while studying she has to hold books close to her eyes, in broad bright light, which is not everyone's cup of tea.
Azra Qureshi told Greater Kashmir that she never considered his disability as a problem but took it as a challenge which she wanted to fight and conquer. She added that after qualifying NET twice she is aiming high.
Azra also appealed all the youth to work hard and do not care for result as hard work and knowledge matter the most.
