VISUALLY IMPAIRED GIRLS TO GET SELF-DEFENCE TRAINING
For the first time in the State, police would train visually impaired girls towards self-defence in a 10-day camp scheduled from Tuesday. This is a joint effort by crime against woman cell of State police along with voluntary organisation 'Sight savers'.
In the 10-day camp, visually impaired girls would be trained on self-defence techniques and would be taught Judo-Karate at the police gymnasium in Jehangirabad locality. Director General of Police Surendra Sinh would be inaugurating the camp at around 1 pm.
On the occasion, state coordinator of UNFPA PR Dev, Arvind Khair Bhambal of Combat Technical System and Regional Manager Sight Savers Archna would remain present.
Around 25 visually impaired girls would be trained in the camp by trainers of police who have trained at national levels.
Earlier self defence training session for teachers was held by police official and personnel of crime against woman cell and representatives of Sightsavers.
The state capital and other parts of the state would be witnessing more camps of self defence for visually impaired after the completion of the ten day camp.
During the camp, the basics of Judo- Karate to get protected at the time of danger and emergency would be taught to the participants. Self defence techniques under Judo- Karate which could help in defending visually impaired would be taught.
Sight savers is an organisation that works to eliminate avoidable blindness, and fights for the rights and needs of people who are visually impaired or blind. The organization educates, counsels, trains and rehabilitates people who are visually impaired.
