A team of visually impaired players who are returning back to Manipur from Delhi after participating in the 20th All India National Blind Sports Meet is reported to be stuck at Guwahati as all vehicles have refused to travel to Imphal because of the prevailing volatile situation in the state.
Kh Premjit, Secretary, Welfare Association for Blind Manipur, Takyel has appealed to all the stakeholders, individuals and organisations to extend their cooperation in making safe passage of the players to Imphal.
Addressing a press meet at Manipur Press Club today, Premjit informed that the players comprises of 16 individuals including officials.
The team reached Guwahati today but is stuck near the Guwahati railway station as vehicles travelling to Manipur have refused to ply on the national highways of the state.
He appealed to all concerned to cooperate in making safe passage for the stranded players, which include individuals of different communities from Tamenglong, Thoubal and other areas.
He further informed that the players also have bagged 13 medals including 5 gold, 5 silver and 3 bronze medals in the All India National Blind Sports Meet.
