KOCHI: As part of World Sight Day, Giridhar Eye Institute, Kadavanthra will conduct a one month long awareness and screening programme, Windows’15 to draw to the causes of avoidable blindness and vision impairment and means of eradicating them.
Dr A Giridhar, medical director of Giridhar Eye Institute said that the campaign is in response to the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness (IABP) call for action, ‘Eye Care for All’. Windows’15 awareness and screening programmes are held to ensure that the message reaches everyone.
The programme will be inaugurated by carrying out eye screening for Kochi Metro workers in association with DMRC at the FACT casting yard and Labour camp, Kalamassery on Thursday.
Kochi Metro labour camp eye screening at Bolgatty and Kaloor will be held on October 20 and November 1 respectively. Comprehensive Eye Screening Programme is scheduled on October 11 for farmers, agriculture labours, shop owners and employees at Puthiyakavu, Poothotta in association with NCC unit KMHSS Poothotta.
Oriyampetty, Kuttampuzha tribal areas will be screened on October 25. Interactive sessions on Eye Health and Youth would be held at St Teresa’s college Ernakulam, S H College Thevara, U C College, Aluva and Jai Bharat College, Perumbavoor. School based awareness and screening program would be held at MAM LP school, Puthenkurz on November 13. Programme will end on November 14.
