A Journey towards hope and empowerment
Twenty-five-year-old Amreen from Bikaner, Rajasthan, resides with her mother and two siblings. Born with complete blindness due to Retinitis Pigmentosa, her educational journey began at age 5. She studied in Jodhpur and completed Class 12 while staying at the Netraheen Vikas Sansthan Blind Hostel. During her schooling years, she learned to use a mobile phone with screen reading technology, with the help of her peers. This helped her with studying, browsing information, and so on.

NEW DELHI: Disability rights advocates and groups have described the Supreme Court judgment recognizing accessibility as a fundamental right for persons with disabilities as historic and hugely transformational.
The ruling is set to transform public life across India, compelling both state and central governments to prioritize the rights of disabled individuals, said the National Disability Network, an umbrella body representing 40 members from across India.

A total of 746 persons above the age of 85 as well as those with disabilities have cast vote from their homes in Maharashtra's Thane district for the upcoming state assembly elections, an official said on Tuesday. In all, 933 persons from 18 assembly constituencies of the district had registered for the home voting facility for the November 20 state polls.
