Visually Challenged student finally secures visa to Italy
Hubballi: Suhas Dharwad, who was denied permission by the Italian embassy, has now received the visa to study at a prestigious university in Italy. Responding to the TOI report dated Aug 18, Union minister Pralhad Joshi sought assistance from the minister of external affairs S Jaishankar. Now, the embassy has sent the visa to the student.

Suhas told TOI that he had received a call from Anuj Nirwal officer on special duty for Italy, Portugal, and San Marino at the ministry of external affairs (MEA), on Aug 21.

Nine visually-impaired music students from India are all set to perform at the closing ceremony of the Paralympics Games Paris 2024 on September 6. Classical musician Pt. Iman Das, who has been training these students for the past several months, says, “Team Sunadha, which comprises visually-challenged vocalists, tabla players, keyboardists and flautists, will represent our music and culture in Paris.

The engineering student is going to receive a cash prize of Rs 8.5 lakh under imaGen Ventures award and will also be allowed to trial his device in 10 countries.

Adilabad: Blind Eye, a revolutionary wearable assistive device invented by Tagire Ravi Kiran, an engineering student from the town and the founder of Allien Innovations, was exhibited at Global Incubation Week, held by UNICEF at Istanbul in Turkey from August 24 to 30.

The device is meant for visually challenged persons.

It was November 2023 when sports entered his life. Before that, Lakkshvir Rehal’s life was just a routine affair.

Visually impaired, Lakkshvir (18) was figuring out what he should do so that he could settle and earn well for his family. Lakkshvir can see from one eye. His father is an architect and mother a chocolate maker.

“I used to make v-logs on social media so that I could start earning. But then I was told by my teachers and parents that I should play games,” he said.

JEPC project promotes digital learning for visually impaired students in state
Ranchi: The Jharkhand Education Project Council (JEPC) has launched Project Jyoti to promote digital inclusion for visually impaired students. The initiative aims to harness the power of mobile technology to support students in Classes VIII and above across five districts: Ranchi, East Singhbhum, Gumla, Saraikela, and Khunti.
The project has been formalized through a recently signed MoU between JEPC and Mjauction, a flagship CSR initiative by Tata Steel and SAIL, and Vimal Imparod.

Born with normal eyesight in Bidar district, Karnataka, twenty-nine-year-old Shreekanth Muganoor's life took an unexpected turn. Coming from a middle-income family of agriculturalists, Shreekanth's vision began deteriorating at the age of 3, leading to complete blindness by six. Until Rajkumar Rao-starrer biopic Srikanth hit the OTT platform earlier this year, little was known about the resilient and rebellious Srikanth Bolla. The visually impaired Bolla is an entrepreneur-industrialist, who founded Bollant Industries, which manufactures sustainable packaging products from waste. He was also the first visually impaired international student at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA, where he pursued a management course.
