PUNE: In a couple of months, more than 20 actors, all of them visually impaired, will present Teen Paishacha Tamasha, a musical classic by noted Marathi writer and humourist Pu La Deshpande, with the help of recordings and Braille script.
Teen Paishacha Tamasha was Pu La’s take on The Threepenny Opera, a musical by German playwright Bertolt Brecht. It was originally a biting satire on the extreme inequality in Victorian England.

Pranav Lal, who uses a technology that works as an artificial eye, converting the sights around him to sound, stressed that there is no reason for a blind man not to have vision anymore.

Under the increased pressure of glaucoma, scientists want to help the neurons in our eyes better protect themselves and get better help from their friends.

They are working to see whether agents that activate the innate neuron protector sigma 1 receptor, or S1R, can do both.

Current glaucoma therapies work to reduce pressure in the eye by increasing outflow and/or reducing fluid production.

Barbara Moore has been legally blind her entire life. Born with a condition called nystagmus with cataracts, she has limited vision, but Moore has never let her sight deter her from accomplishing what she set her mind to doing.

In fact, Moore taught herself to sew at an early age. “It was just something I wanted to do,” she recalls. “It was the day after New Year’s 1996 and I wanted to make a comforter. So, I bought a sewing machine and figured out how to sew.”
