Cincinnati Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired (CABVI) will host its Annual Yes You Can 5K Walk/Run to support services for people with vision loss on Sunday, July 15, 2018. Check-in starts at 7 am and the race begins at 8:30 a.m.

BENGALURU : The differently-abled in the city can get a chance to be a part of what has been termed as India’s first Accessible Bowling, to be held on Church Street. The event has been organised by Enable Travel, a startup that focuses on curating travels for the differently-abled. It is open for all categories of the disabled, the physically-disabled, visually-impaired and those with hearing problems. GNDU to re-advertise posts for disabled candidates

The Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU) has decided to re-advertise the post of Punjabi assistant professor in the differently-abled category. The university will also call candidates with disability for all the subjects, once the current recruitments process ends.

 

The decision of the university comes in the wake of the recruitment row as a handicapped candidate appeared in the interview to fill the posts of permanent assistant professor along with others.

Talking Bill' service for blind people in United Arab Emirates

Visually impaired to get their telephone bills for free in UAE.

Etisalat on Sunday announced the launch of a 'Talking Bill' service that enables visually impaired customers to access bill summary details of their account free of charge.

Customers can subscribe to the service at no extra cost by dialing 101 or visiting any of Etisalat's retail stores. Upon successful activation, customers will get an automated call from Etisalat to explain the summary bill details of their account in English or Arabic from next month onwards.

A blindfold run for a cause

It is common to spot joggers and cyclists at the Besant Nagar beach, but  Sunday, visitors to the beach witnesses something unusual a bunch of blindfolded people, holding the hands of their walkathon partners who were guiding them along on their walk.

The disabilities Act, in fact, empowers civic authorities to deny completion certificates to establishments if they fail to provide such facilities.

"Establishments in Mumbai have been issued completion certificates and are allowed to function despite not having ramps or accessible bathrooms," she said.

Election Commission to issue braille voter ID cards to visually challenged voters

The Election Commission said it will soon issue braille voter identity cards to visually-challenged electors across the country. Chief Election Commissioner O P Rawat said the commission has decided to establish auxiliary polling stations during elections for the people with disabilities.
