MORE than 150 visually impaired and senior citizens celebrated World Elderly Day at the Malaysian Association for the Blind.

“Although the actual date is Oct 1, we were not able to hold it then and moved it to November instead,” said Society of the Blind Malaysia (SBM) Kuala Lumpur/Selangor chairman Rosnah Ahmad.

“We wanted to use this opportunity for the elderly and those with disabilities to come together,” she said.

The event was organised by the Society of the Blind Malaysia (SBM) Kuala Lumpur/Selangor and Social Welfare Department Malaysia (JKM).

City’s first inclusive park for kids nears completion, to open soon

CHENNAI: Just behind the Amma Anuvagam on Santhome High Road, an inclusive park stands just beside the State Resource Centre for Inclusive Education. Now under construction, the park is a joint initiative by the Greater Chennai Corporation, the Bengaluru-based trust Kilikili, the Disability Rights Organisation, the Smart Cities Mission and architect Kavitha Selvaraj, to create an inclusive space for children with and without disability.

MYSURU: Shivananda Kelur, the teacher, stretches his legs out in front, inhales and raises his arms above his head. Later, he exhales, bends forward and stretches his arms towards the toes.Scores of students bend and adopt the same stance.  But this is not your typical yoga class. All these students are visually challenged.
