Life is a challenge,” says the old adage, but it is meant for ordinary people whose challenges come and go. It is meant to motivate ordinary people like us to move on with life. One may say that everyone has their own problems, and every person in this world faces challenges. While we all have difficulties in life and our problems may vary, these challenges are even greater for those with disabilities. People with disabilities already have the major disadvantage in their disability, but in addition, they face the same daily challenges as any other person.
Twenty-three-year-old Manisha hails from Manimajra in Chandigarh. She was born with a deteriorating eye condition. Growing up without a father, she watched her mother work tirelessly as an assistant at an adult education centre to provide for Manisha and her two siblings. Despite financial struggles, Manisha's determination to create a better future through education never wavered.
Twenty-six-year-old Maria Rangwala was born in Sanawad, Madhya Pradesh. She has a degenerative eye condition called Retinitis Pigmentosa (RP) that leads to gradual sight loss. Studying in a nearby mainstream school, she didn’t encounter any issues initially. But as her eyesight deteriorated, she had trouble reading the blackboard. She could still read her books and other printed material by holding it closer to her eyes. Thankfully, a cousin who was in the same class helped her with the notes she missed out on reading from a distance.

Lucknow: Sanjeeta Vishwakarma, a visually impaired student, is set to get three gold medals in different categories at the Dr Shakuntala Misra National Rehabilitation University convocation on Friday.
Before joining DSMNRU, Sanjeeta had vision in one eye and was enrolled in Saltanat Bahadur Post Graduate College, Jaunpur. When she was in BA second year, the vision in the only eye also got low, and she had to leave the course midway.
"My dream to complete higher education was shaken when, in the second year of my BA course, I lost vision in both eyes.
