This new app can help the visually challenged type quickly and efficiently on an iPad. Created by Stanford engineer Sohan Dharmaraja, the app named IBrailler Notes uses eight keys. What’s different about it is that the keys form around the fingertips when they’re placed on the screen. Which means that if a user loses his way, he simply lifts his fingers from the screen and places them down again.

Furious, the teacher insulted him in a crowd of students assuming he’d walked into her intentionally. White cane, the mobility aid used by the visually challenged, has got a smart makeover, thanks to the research conducted by IIT, Delhi. The ‘smart white cane’, as it is called, incorporates a small electronic device mounted on the cane. The detachable device, with an inbuilt rechargeable battery, can detect objects three metres away and provide signals to the person using it.

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan blessed 51 newly wed disabled couples at a function for mass marriage of disabled persons at Hoshangabad on Wednesday. He announced that assistance under CM’s disabled persons’ marriage scheme will be increased from `25,000 to `50,000. He said that the increased amount will also be given to couples who tied nuptial knots at today’s function.
Bhimabhoi Samarthya Sibir, a camp for differently-abled persons, was organised at Khariar in the premises of the Khariar Panchayat Samit of Nuapada district. Over 400 differently-abled persons with various physical and mental problems attended the camp for checkup and to get disability certificates from the district administration.
