KSRTC’s Dhwani Spandana project, a first-of-its-kind initiative for visually impaired passengers received the honour for its work in creating an inclusive and accessible public transport system.

The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has been honoured with the National Award of Excellence in Urban Transport – 2025 by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs.

The award recognises Karnataka as the State that implemented the best urban transport projects during the previous year, according to a release by the KSRTC.

The Delhi state government plans to set up hostels for visually impaired college girls in every district of Delhi. The announcement was made by Social Welfare Minister Ravinder Indraj Singh during an inspection of the Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences secondary residential schools in Isapur Village, Najafgarh.He also conducted detailed discussions with officials and local residents regarding the educational and residential welfare schemes for students.

Dr Rajesh Sharma, head of the department of visual and performing arts at Guru Nanak Dev University, has been conferred with the state award for his contribution to the field of music by the Council of IAWC, approved by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Government of India

Kolkata: The state Mass Education Extension and Library Services department has invited applications for the ‘Sahanubhuti’ scholarship for students with disabilities studying in Class IX and above for the 2025–26 academic year. The scheme aims to provide financial assistance to specially-abled students pursuing academic, technical or professional education. Students with 40 percent or more disability—whether visual, hearing, orthopaedic or intellectual—are eligible to apply.
