Soon 'smart glasses' that could help the blind to see

Wed, 08/06/2014 - 16:18 -- nikita.jain

Researchers have developed new 'Star Trek-style' smart glasses that could transform the lives of blind and partially-sighted people.
According to a report, the glasses don’t replace lost vision but assist with spatial awareness and this will also be the first large-scale test of smart glasses and augmented reality for sight enhancement worldwide.
The joint project between the University of Oxford and the Royal National Institute of Blind People, will first create 100 pairs to test on 1,000 people.

ENABLE THE DISABLED

Tue, 08/05/2014 - 11:33 -- nikita.jain

-Albert Einstein, George Washington, Beethoven, Helen Keller, Thomas Edison, Graham Bell — all faced one form of disability or the other. As a new academic session has started in colleges, we need to remind ourselves of this fact in order to look at the differently abled from an alternative perspective, says ANANYA BORGOHAIN
My advice to other disabled people would be, concentrate on things your disability doesn’t prevent you from doing well, and don’t regret the things it interferes with. Don’t be disabled in spirit as well as physically — Stephen Hawking

She is not the only child violated in a space considered to be the safest space for children after their homes — the school. This ugly reality has come to light once again with a six-year-old being sexually abused in a school in Bangalore. Every report specified that it took place at an “elite school”, as if such incidents only take place among the poor and this was new.
