Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) under the Technical Cooperation of the Government of Japan has invited applications for the above programme to be held from August 2012 out of which the Core Phase will be held in Japan from 18 September to 1st November, 2012
Aim of the programme:
Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. – Maitree, is conducting the 8th All India batch of Advanced Computer Training Center (ACTC) for Visually Impaired.
Venue:
The training will be conducted in the premises of our partnering organization; Mitra Jyothi , C. A. Site P22, 31st Main, 18th Cross, H. S. R. layout, Sector 1, (Behind NIFT), Bangalore - 560102. This will be a 40-45 days residential training program and will commence tentatively on 30th July 2012.
National Handicapped Finance and Development Corporation (NHFDC), for and on behalf of Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Govt. of India, invites applications from Students with Disabilities for award of Scholarship under the Scholarship Scheme (Trust Fund) :-
Under this scheme, 1000 Scholarships will be awarded to eligible students with disabilities for degree and post graduate level professional and technical courses from recognized institutions in India.
Applicants may apply any time in academic year for scholarship under this scheme.
The Xavier’s Resource Centre for the Visually Challenged (XRCVC),b St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai is happy to announce that it will be conducting a training programme in Basic Computers & Access Technologies for visually challenged persons. The course will include training and practice sessions in accessible software including screen readers, screen magnifiers, OCR technology etc.
Specific customizable needs will also be looked into.
All India Confederation of the Blind is happy to announce that the 7th intensive training course for VI women will be held.
Venue: Delhi Premises of the Confederation
Duration of the course: 16th May to 30th June, 2012.
ELIGIBILITY
Upto 30 ladies in the age range of 18 to 35 years are eligible to apply for admission to the course.
Preference will be given to ladies having graduation as the educational qualification.
They should be proficient in speaking and understanding Hindi and English and be in good health.

IIIT-Hyderabad, India, is conducting a training workshop for visually challenged individuals. The objective of this workshop is to train individuals on using computers through an open source screen reading software "NVDA" in both Indian accented English and in Telugu language. The Telugu text-to-speech system used in this workshop is being developed at IIIT-Hyderabad as a part of MCIT sponsored consortium project.

Who can apply: Any person with disability having basic computer knowledge
Description: This training will help computer literate persons with disabilities enhance their computer skills. This training will focus on use of open source screen reader software for Hindi and regional language computing.
