Invitation for MEGA JOB FAIR

Samarthanam Trust for the Disabled’ is launching MEGA JOB FAIRS
exclusively for persons with disabilities PAN India.
Aspirants with OH, VI and HH impairments who are looking for corporate placements are welcome to attend the fair on 24th May 2022 at Maharaja
Agrasen College, Vasundhara Enclave, Delhi-110096 at 09:30 to 04:00 pm. The candidates will be required to carry their Aadhaar Card,
Disability certificate and a few copies of their CV as there will be job interviews happening on site at the venue.

Can technology solve the scribe challenge?

Visually impaired people are known to use Braille script for reading and writing. They also use computers, smartphones, or other assistive devices for the same. In fact, many blind people don’t know Braille but they are well-versed with technology. But the general perception remains that a blind person cannot read or write in a mainstream format. Hence, there are provisions mandated by law to use a scribe to appear for examinations.

HYDERABAD: Representatives from several organisations working among the visually handicapped said the government was not involving them while making decisions regarding the visually impaired. They demanded that the blind community at large be consulted before making any decisions for their welfare.
They were speaking at a meeting of the Hyderabad unit of the All India Confederation of the Blind (AICB) with the representatives of all organisations working for the blind in the city on Saturday.

Ranga Rao Memorial School for Differently Abled (RMSD) has started the admission procedure for the current year. The school, run by Vasu Agarbatti Ranga Rao Memorial Trust and supported by NR Foundation, has invited applications from visually impaired girl students for Class 1 to 10 from across Karnataka for admission in the 2022-23 academic session.

One of the challenges that comes with disability is coping with the social stigma around it. When a person is born without vision, a certain picture of reality sets in the minds of the people around him or her. Moreover, the person also accepts the state as it is, unaware of another mode of existence. But for someone who acquires disability at a later stage, struggles doubly to accept the new reality and admit it to the surrounding community. They often remain obsessed with ‘what was’.

Bengaluru: Narayana Nethralaya in collaboration with Acer India on Wednesday launched the PC and tablet-based software, "VisioNova" designed for children suffering from Cortical Visual Impairment (CVI). This initiative by Narayana Nethralaya and Acer India aims at breaking down barriers and providing the patients with better access to treatment. Acer VisioNova, a path-breaking innovation was conceptualized as a mobile alternative to on-site therapy for CVI children that will offer them the standard care.
