CHENNAI: On a sunny Friday noon, echoes of drilling and hammering envelopes the rather quiet premises of State Commissionerate for Welfare of the Differently Abled on Kamarajar Salai, overlooking the Marina Beach. An accessible ramp leads me into the portion of the building that houses the Museum of Possibilities. Funded by the government of Tamil Nadu and managed by Vidya Sagar, the 2,500-sq-ft space is in its final stages of completion and is yet to be officially inaugurated.

Webinar Announcement
Inculcating reading as habit.
The power of knowledge is well known to everyone and knowledge comes from books.
We understand the difficulties faced by print disabled (blind, low vision, aged people etc) in getting a book for reading in an accessible format.
The add-on to this problem is the fact that many people don't have the right tools  for the reading and may face difficulty for the resources that provide such accessible books.

Taking a Stand

Many blind and visually impaired people in the country depend on government welfare schemes and provisions to manage their lives. With Covid-19, livelihood options shrunk for a majority of the blind population, working in the informal sector as hawkers or daily wagers. Many of them now completely rely on the government social security schemes for their sustenance.
