KOCHI: Prasanna Kumari, a 47-year-old visually impaired lawyer, has filed a petition before the Kerala High Court seeking to initiate contempt of court proceedings against Vice-chancellor and Registrar of the Kannur University for not complying with a court order.   The court had directed the Kannur University to treat Prasanna Kumari as one who is eligible for the post of lecturer in Law. The court had also invalidated an appointment made by her to the post.

Those voters who are suffering from physical ailments can be given relaxation from the Queue system and should not be kept waiting, said Election Commission in a notification.

Aggrieved over “lack of action” by Delhi government on issues affecting people with disability, hundreds of disabled people plan to march towards the secretariat on October 6 to seek a meeting with Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and put forward their demands. Muralidharan, convenor of the Delhi Viklang Adhikar Manch shared the plans for the march, which will be held under the leadership of 16 organisations, at a press conference Wednesday. 

Bringing into focus the plight of disabled people, the Supreme Court today fumed at several states not filing responses as to steps taken  to implement various provisions of the Disability Act.
