JEPC project promotes digital learning for visually impaired students in state
Ranchi: The Jharkhand Education Project Council (JEPC) has launched Project Jyoti to promote digital inclusion for visually impaired students. The initiative aims to harness the power of mobile technology to support students in Classes VIII and above across five districts: Ranchi, East Singhbhum, Gumla, Saraikela, and Khunti.
The project has been formalized through a recently signed MoU between JEPC and Mjauction, a flagship CSR initiative by Tata Steel and SAIL, and Vimal Imparod.

Until Rajkumar Rao-starrer biopic Srikanth hit the OTT platform earlier this year, little was known about the resilient and rebellious Srikanth Bolla. The visually impaired Bolla is an entrepreneur-industrialist, who founded Bollant Industries, which manufactures sustainable packaging products from waste. He was also the first visually impaired international student at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA, where he pursued a management course.

State-owned Punjab National Bank has launched the PNB ANTAH DRISHTI Braille Debit Card, designed for visually impaired customers.

This contactless National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) debit card is available on RuPay network, PNB said in a statement.

The introduction of the new braille debit card reflects the bank’s commitment to inclusivity and financial accessibility, it said.

Japan to set up university for visually-impaired.

Bhubaneswar: Social Security and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (SSEPD) department principal secretary Bishnupada Sethi met with a team of Japanese delegation here, Thursday. Sethi welcomed the delegation’s proposal to set up a vocational training institute and university for visually-impaired in the state. Tsukuba University Principal Ryuchi Aoki who led the delegation said, “Tsukuba University is offering various vocational educations to differently-abled students.
